Got my new iPod Touch today from Amazon:
Apple has the best packaging in the business.
Here's all the stuff that came in the box:
Interestingly, one thing that didn't come with the iPod was an iTunes CD. The cleaning cloth is going to be used alot, this thing picks up fingerprints like nothing else.
I've played with it a little tonight and have a few first impressions:
I know I'm going to miss being able to pause the iPod with it still it in my pocket. I wish one of the home button double click options was pause. I walk home under the El and it's nice to be able to pause what I am listening to when a train comes by. Hard buttons for volume would be nice too.
The screen looks great. I definitely didn't get one of the bad screens. The colors are bright and there isn't any motion blur.
The software is still buggy. It's crashed a few times on me already, including once when it was connected to my PC.
The mobile safari browser is as good as everyone says it is. Google's special iPhone front ends for GMail and GCal aren't working on the Touch right now, but I'm sure that'll be fixed shortly. Typepad's iPhone mode works great and the Amazon iPhone/iTouch beta site also works very well. Complicated sites like iGoogle take a long time to render and sometimes appear to confuse the browser.
I'll have an update post in a few weeks once I've used it for while.
